Credit Report - Linked Address

The "Linked Address" section f your credit report will show 2 addresses that are linked somehow by you. It will show how the credit reference agency know about the link and the date on which they established the link.

Any information held on the linked addresses will not be shown on your credit report unless you used those addresses in a credit application. It is good practice to provide the credit reference agencies with up-to-date addresses, failing this could negatively affect any credit applications when a lender cannot find any record of you at an address specified by you during an application.

Why Are Other Addresses Shown On My Credit Report?

Lenders like to review any relevant information when making a decision on an application for credit. Therefore they may take into account information of addresses you have lived at or have been linked to in the recent past.

How Is a Link Created?

A link can be created in 3 ways.

  • You tell a lender that you have changed address
  • You include an address on a credit application
  • You tell a credit agency of a new address

I have Never Lived At That Address. Can It Be Removed?

You do not have to have lived at an address for it to be included on your credit report. There must only be a financial connection. If you believe that you have not had any connection with an address contact the credit agencies and request the link to be removed.

The agencies will then contact the company who provided them with the information in an attempt to verify its accuracy. They can then remove this address from your credit report if appropriate.
